In honor of the 31st Courage Classic Tour, the Boersma family is coming together to raise $3,100 for Children's Hospital Colorado. Throughout the month of July, you'll see our family come together to complete our own version of the Courage Classic for kids like Chase.
Chase was born 2 months early in full cardiac arrest and spent nearly 3 months in the Children’s Hospital Colorado NICU. He continues to face challenges ranging from respiratory issues to partial blindness. Chase asked his mom, Laura, if he could ride with her in the Courage Classic Bicycle Tour. Given his medical challenges, this was no small feat, but Chase was determined to learn to ride a bike. After a lot of hard work (and falls), Chase rode with Laura's Durango Derailers Team of family and friends across the Courage Classic finish line -- a true testament to his courage and strength against all odds.
Chase will not be the last child to face a life-threatening illness, and his family will not be the last to navigate a frightening diagnosis.
