On January 5th, 2019 Jackson, age 14, was skiing with family and friends. Jackson is a solid blue skier, but this was his first run of the season and he was getting his "ski legs" back when he accidently found himself on a black. He lost control, fell, and hit a tree breaking his pelvis, sacrum and humerus. He was airlifted from Copper Mountain to Children's Hospital Colorado. Once in the ER at Children's, doctors evaluated Jackson for additional injuries and determined what surgeries would be necessary. Jackson stayed for a week in the hospital and had multiple surgeries.
We are so lucky to have Jackson here with us today. So many things could have gone wrong but didn't. The doctors, nurses and all of the staff at Children's were phenomonal! Jackson received world class treatment with the utmost professionalism and an immense amount of compassion. I am extremely gratefull that Jackson was treated, and continues to be treated, at Children's Hospital Colorado.
