I am participating in the Courage Classic to improve access to the healing power of art for kids, families, and team members at Childen's Colorado.
My name is Jasmine Chu. I am the Arts Coordinator at Children's Colorado. In my role, I curate exhibitions in the Hamilton Gallery, steward our collection of over 1400 art objects, and champion arts-engagement from direct artist-patient interactions, murals, musical performances, visiting dance companies, and more! Everything I do at the hospital is to foster the spirit of boundless creativity that makes Children's Colorado such a special place.
I see the impact of creative experiences in my professional life every day, but I also have experienced the importance of this work personally. When I was hospitalized and diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at age 10, my world was very dark. Creating art with an art therapist helped bring color back to my life and shaped my connection to the arts for life.
My story is not unique, but shared with many of the kids facing their own challenges at Children's Colorado today.
The Courage Classic is an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children.
