I ride for all the children that are admitted to Children's Hospital Colorado.
Last year, I was hired as a bedside nurse in the NICU at CHCO. I had only worked there for 2 months when I was assigned to take care of a special little baby named Kayleigh. She was pre-natally diagnosed with duodenal atresia and it was advised that she deliver in the Maternal Fetal Care Center at Children's. Upon her arrival to her amazing parents, Katie and Jason, they anxiously prepared for her surgical repair which was incredibly successful. It took her some time to learn how to eat, but finally after 23 days in the NICU, she was finally able to go home!
Since Kayleigh went home, I have been incredibly touched by this family's grace and compassion towards me as I cared for her every night I worked for those 3 weeks. Kayleigh is a special baby to me because she was my first primary patient at Children's Hospital Colorado. I continue to be thankful for the great friendship I was able to form with her incredibly loving parents.
I ride in the Courage Classic Bike Race this year to recognize all the patients admitted to the hospital, but especially the NICU. Please join me in supporting this amazing organization, as we ride for these babies and that we can continue to provide great care for them!!
