I ride to give hope to Children's Hospital Colorado patients.
I joined the Wheels of Justice Team, a group of more than 250 individuals from all walks of life who participate in the Courage Classic to support care for children with cancer and blood disorders. Since its creation 13 years ago, WOJ has raised more than $4,000,000 (!), funds that support programs and provide resources critical in the fight against childhood cancer (www.wheelsofjustice.com).
A prime example that shows these funds in action: the psychosocial team at our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at CHCO. These individuals provide one of the pillars of care supporting our patients- as you can imagine, the guidance, psychological support, and other services they provide are critical to helping children and their families navigate their journeys with childhood cancer. While no child should be faced with such a challenge, the psychosocial team helps to ensure that each child has the best shot possible at meaningful and fulfilling life after a cancer diagnosis. We simply could not do our jobs without them.
Many of the most meaningful and transformative moments during my entire life have come while working with pediatric oncology patients and families- each moment spent interacting with these kids has always been inspiring. More than once I have been completely humbled by their bravery and resilience.
Those kids are why I am riding this year, for the first time.
Please consider giving to CHCO by making a donation to the Wheels of Justice team this year. You can click below to donate. Every contribution counts!
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children.
