At the Colorado Center for Celiac Disease, we are passionate about our research looking to screen and diagnose celiac disease earlier in childhood. Earlier identification and diagnosis can help children suffering from unidentified symptoms or no symptoms and prevent future complications. The only current treatment available for celiac disease is a strict gluten-free diet.
Access to gluten-free diet education and healthy gluten-free food items are crucial for the successful treatment of celiac disease. Unfortunately, many insurance companies will not cover this for our families. Partlcularly with the recent pandemic, it has become harder for families to pay out pocket and subsequently to stick to a gluten-free diet for treatment. I am walking with my 3 month old, Mia, and running on my own to help raise money to provide gluten-free diet education to our families who are not covered and to support national efforts to help those on a gluten-free diet with food insecurity. Please help support our cause!
