The amazing staff at the Heart Institute of Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO) provide the utmost care for infants who are born with congenital heart defects and those who acquire heart disease during childhood. Congenital heart defects and heart disease vary greatly in their diagnosis which in turn varies greatly in treatment. Oftentimes, for these children and their families, the stay in a hospital is long, lonely, and painful. From the doctors who make difficult procedures and surgeries possible, nurses who provide life sustaining care, to the nurse assistants that make certain that nurses, patients and their families have everything they need, the entire team in the Heart Institute is nothing short of amazing!
The Cardiac Climbers are riding in the Courage Classic to raise money for the Heart Institute. Funding this cause will be beneficial for innovative equipment, supplies, research, studies, education, family support, and resources.
This year, I will be riding with the Cardiac Climbers in the Courage Classic 2020 bike tour, for the first time. I will be riding to honor my beautiful daughter, Aubrey. As many of you know, Aubrey was born with a severe congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. We were fortunate enough to have been cared for by the Heart Institute many times that often resulted in long hospital stays. Throughout those times of uncertainty, the wonderful caregivers, at CHCO, provided me hope, support, and endless encouragement. Please join me in supporting and donating to the Heart Institute so that we can help one more mother or father take their beautiful child home as I have.
