I joined the Cardiac Climbers to ride the Courage Classic, not only as a personal challenge, but to help give hope to Children's Hospital Colorado patients like Aiden.
At around 30 weeks, it was discovered that Aiden did not have much fluid around him in utero, and was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Aiden's mom says he was a little fighter, and at 32 weeks, Aiden and his twin brother were born via c-section. Aiden then spent 76 days in the NICU at Children's Hospital. His first heart surgery was a cath procedure, where he had 3 stents placed. Then in June 2019, at only 4 months old, Aiden had open heart surgery for full repair. A complication from that surgery led to the need for another chest tube to be placed, making that Aiden's third surgery. Aiden is now 14 months and on April 16, 2020, he will have his fourth surgery -- another open-heart surgery -- to place a valve and to patch open his left LPA.
In these uncertain times we are living in right now, patients and families like Aiden's need our help more than ever. Even a small donation can go a long way to give Aiden the care he needs to continue fighting.
