I ride to give hope to Children's Hospital Colorado patients like my son Daniel.
At 11-years-old and just days before Christmas doctors discovered a tumor the size of half an adult fist in Daniel's brain. The tumor turned out to be caused by an aggressive brain cancer (anaplastic ependemoma grade 3 with RelaFusion). Over a six month period Daniel underwent 4 brain surgeries and 33 days of radiation. Daniel is now cancer free but won't be considered in remission for 10 years and is still being challenged by after effects of radiation.
Daniel is a super positive kid always saying "God's in Control." Now at 12-years-old, he is anxious to give back and help other kids. He will be representing Children's Hospital Colorado as an ambassador for 2020/2021 and looks forward to being at the finish line to cheer on participants at the 2020 Courage Classic.
Daniel climbed Pikes Peak on his unicycle at the age of 11 just prior to his diagnosis. He will be participating in the Courage Classic however on his bicycle and doing the 40 each day.
Daniel will not be the last child to face a life-threatening illness, and his family will not be the last to navigate a frightening diagnosis.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children.
We hope you'll donate and support our effort to ride and raise money for Children's Hospital Colorado. My goal is $500 and Daniel's is $150.
We will be riding with the team Courage from the Springs. We'd love for you to join our team!
