I ride to give hope to Children's Hospital Colorado patients like Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was vacationing with a friend in Florida when a grease fire started in the kitchen. She suffered severe burns on her arms and legs. Her family got on the first flight from Denver to be by her side. Once Elizabeth and her family returned home, they went straight to Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Burn Clinic.
Burn accidents cause both physical and emotional trauma. Elizabeth says that the burn team at Children’s Colorado provided her with exceptional care that helped her heal both inside and out. Her experience at Burn Camp illuminated her own bravery and reminded her that she’s not alone. “I found it helpful to meet other burn patients because we all have a shared experience,” she says. “I realized how strong we all are, and how brave I can be.”
Because of generous community support, families are never asked to pay for their child to attend Burn Camp. Your donation will help other burn survivors to access support and healing. The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support the Burn Camps Program where kids like Elizabeth can experience support and healing.
