Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you for your donation to the Psyched to Climb team. This is the third year we ride in support of the Pediatric Mental Health Institute (PMHI) at Childrens Hospital Colorado. Due to the COVID pandemic, last year’s Courage Classic Tour was 100% virtual. Our team is psyched that this year we can once again ride the 80-mile Copper-Vail loop together on July 17th, and our efforts reflect our deep hope and commitment to raise attention and resources to facilitate progress in solving the current youth mental health crisis in Colorado.
Fundraising is more important than ever for PMHI. Here are a few reasons why:
• Even before COVID, suicide was the leading cause of death for Colorado youth ages 10-24
• The negative impact of extended isolation, particularly on youth who seek critical social engagement and connection with their peers, has compounded the crisis and suicide rates among our youth population are at an ALL TIME HIGH
• In the past two years, Colorado has seen a 90% increase in demand for youth behavioral health treatment. Our state is in a full-blown crisis and we have reached a tipping point in our ability to address it
• These staggering statistics reflect the need we know about. The STIGMA surrounding mental health still exists, and there are so many young Coloradans in crisis who we don’t know about because they do not reach out for help. Along with supporting treatment, our goal is also to help raise awareness and BREAK THE STIGMA.
Many Thanks for your past and present support!
With Love and Gratitude,
Courage Classic aims to drive awareness and financial support for the care of children and families who require early prevention, ongoing therapy, and access to the medical professionals who can make a difference for kids who need it most…for the kids who have a much larger mountain to climb.
