I am supporting the Courage Classic for all our research patients (and parents) that have donated their time to participate in research studies conducted by our Radiology research team (and the Children's Hospital Colorado's Advanced Imaging Lab).
The dedicated individuals that commit their precious time to participate in research, often after an already stressful clinical visit, are my inspiration. They know that our ongoing research may not immediately impact their care; rather more likely that of a future patient - but they offer to participate without hesitation.
While I take great pride in giving back through the deliberate (and admittedly slow) process of research discovery and grant procurement, the Courage Classic provides an opportunity to raise funds directly for the Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation and the patients they support. I hope you may also be inspired to do so as well.
I am acutely aware that by raising these funds, I get to participate in two days of beautiful 80 mile bike rides through the Colorado Mountains - but perhaps my heart will also benefit and I'll live a little longer to further drive the next generation of pediatric cardiovascular imaging developments!
