I am participating in the Courage Classic to support the incredible patients I have the opportunity to treat at Children's Hospital Colorado.
I am a PA in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Many of the patients that I treat are diagnosed with cancer, rare blood disorders, and immunodeficiencies. I have the opportunity to support these patients during diagnosis, treatment, and for many - remission or cure!
Many of the patients I work with are admitted to the hospital for weeks or months. We develop our own extended family on the inpatient Hematology, Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplant unit. The benefits our patients receive from the fundraising and awareness that the Courage Classic brings is visible on a daily basis. This event helps to make remission and cure possible. Just as important, it allows us to develop programs that improve our patients' and families' happiness and access to care.
Riding a bike for 40, 80, or 160+ miles is tough, but it's nothing compared to what our patients and families endure. My husband, Jeff, and I are so excited to participate in the Courage Classic for the first time in honor of these special patients!
Please consider supporting Children's Hospital Colorado, the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, my husband, and myself as we ride the mountains to make the difference that matters!
Thank you! - Kali O'Dell
