I'm riding to support all the kids at Children's Hospital Colorado, but specifically because fund raising through the Wheels of Justice is a big reason that the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders is able to have a fantastic Wellness Program. Blood disorders and cancer are REALLY difficult. They would be even more terrible if there weren't resources like art therapy, social work, and psychology, to help kids and families cope with the challenges. Let's not let stupid COVID-19 take that away.
I've been heavily encouraged to ride in the Courage Classic for several years, but to be honest I've been too scared to ride a road bike, and also not quite strong enough to get my heavy 24-inch cruiser over Vail Pass. :) In the past several weeks, I've ridden my road bike about 40 miles. And I haven't fallen or cried, even when I nearly ran over a snake!
I'm now feeling almost as brave as a kid at Children's Hospital Colorado, so I've finally registered for the Courage Classic (even though it's virtual). Between now and August 2, I pledge to ride 50 miles on my road bike. I'm pretty sure now that I read the rules that I was supposed to do that by July 19 (today). But uhh...no time like the present.
Will you please donate to help keep me accountable, and to keep COVID from affecting the resources that we can offer kids with blood disorders and cancer?
Thanks for considering!
