This is my fourth year participating in the Courage Classic and I am so excited! If you know me and my family then you know why I am riding and who I’m riding for.
My daughter, Olivia, has been in the caring hands of Children’s Hospital Colorado since she was just four days old. Severe jaundice lead to many tests, needle pokes and blood draws and after having a failed Kasai at 8 weeks old she was diagnosed with Biliary Agenesis - a very rare disease -where she had no bile ducts in her liver. At 7 months old she was given the gift of life with a liver transplant on May 21, 2015. We are forever thankful for the kindness, knowledge and compassion of Olivia’s doctors, surgeons and the Liver Team as a whole.
Olivia is now 6 1/2 and such a thriving, strong, creative and HAPPY girl! She even calls the scar across her tummy her rainbow. My husband and I are excited to bring Olivia and her little brother, Milo, along on the ride! I know we’ll be surrounded with a lot of positivity and strength as we ride amongst individuals and families that have fought hard against disease and for their health as well as riding in honor of the battles these kids at Children’s fight for every day.
