Why I ride
This will be my 9th year riding the Courage Classic! I ride for my daughter Morgan and all of the patients in the Inherited Metabolic Disorder Clinic at Children's Colorado.
My daughter Morgan was born with a rare genetic disorder called PKU. She is unable to eat/process protein, more importantantly the amino acid Phenylalanine. This amino acid is toxic to Morgan's brain tissue and if untreated from infancy would have rendered her severly mentally disabled.
I ride for the Gene team, which raises money for all of the patients in the IMDB clinic. The money raised goes to help families get to conferences, and kids to camps. The funds also help to keep the low protein food store well stocked for these families which helps to subsidise those families that cannot afford these essential low protein foods. The money raised will also help families that have fallen on hard times and need some help to pay the utility bills.
As I stated above, this will be my eighth year riding and it gets better and better every year to see how many people get involved with this great cause!
