I am thrilled to be riding my first Courage Classic and honored to co-captain this new Psyched to Climb team! Our big picture goal is to raise awareness for mental wellness and funds for the Pediatric Mental Health Institute at Children's Hospital Colorado which strives to be a role model for other mental health resources across the nation and world.
Why am I doing this? My story begins with my father. He struggled with anxiety and depression (which started as a teen) and self medicated with alcohol. I grew up ashamed and afraid. I wasn't able to talk with others about this until I was well into my mid-20s. Now, as a mother of three teenagers, I have learned a lot and am concerned about our next generation. We've all been profoundly impacted by so many who struggle.
I want to be part of a change. I hope to inspire others to join me to break the stigma, to not be ashamed, know its ok and good to seek help.
Hoping you'll support me in this much needed endeavor!
