I am supporting the Courage Classic for patients like Chase.
I am in my second decade riding this event. I love the ride no doubt, but my heart was hooked the year of my first ride when I met Erin. Like Chase, Erin had unimaginable health issues at such a young age. But Erin's spirit, her love, her kindness, her genuiness and her incredible spunk hooked me forever. If I could put in one more training ride, if I could pester one more friend for a donation, if I could even step into the shoes of just one of these kids and take the hit for them for one day, I would feel as uplifted as I did sharing a laugh in the heart of Copper Mountain with Erin. It is difficult to describe how meaningful this experience has been.
For years after that, I saw Erin in Copper Mountain, until she was no longer with us. I understand that her life was extended by many years because of Children's Hospital and its caring providers. For Chase, I hope by giving something here, perhaps we will have as simialr connection. Hopefully, he will live a full and fullfilling life. At a minimum, I hope he will know how cared for and loved he is.
Let's get busy, crush Vail Pass, crush Ute Pass, finish upright and keep it rolling! Join me, you will support those who need it most and benefit more than you know.
