I am riding again this year to raise funds to support the Heart Institute at the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHC). My wife, Denise, is a nurse in the Heart Institute; every day I hear the stories of how they improve the lives of children and families who can visit the CHC. In addition, the cutting-edge research that they do has the potential to help thousands, or hundreds of thousands, of children around the world and into the future. All the money you donate to our team goes directly to the Heart Institute; there is no fundraising overhead charged.
This year, as for the last 6 years, I am again honored to dedicate my ride to Adelaide, a patient at the Heart Institute of CHC. Adelaide was born with hypo-plastic left heart syndrome. She needed a miracle to survive and received one in the form of a heart transplant at seventeen days of life. Thus far, Adelaide’s main vulnerability lies in her body’s limited ability to fight infection. The life-saving medicine that she takes twice daily protects her heart by suppressing her immune system. Adelaide has suffered from a couple of illnesses that have been very difficult to overcome but her heart remains strong nearly twelve years’ post-transplant. Adelaide is a happy, energetic and loving sixth grader who loves to sing, play piano, pray the rosary, ride horseback, swim, go for bicycle rides, and have an all-around good time with friends, family and often has a great time entertaining herself.
Please consider a donation of any amount to support the children, like Adelaide, who need the life-saving care that the Children's Hospital of Colorado provides.
