I am riding for patients like Jett who are born with congenital heart disease. It is an honor for me to ride Courage Classic because this gives me a chance to demonstrate how amazing kids like Jett really are. I am a pediatric cardiologist at Children's and I love taking care of kids like Jett. I have had the privilege of taking care of Jett since before he was born. Kids like Jett make me smile and make work fun!
Here is what Jett's mom has to say about her superstar:
Jett was diagnosed with having a Congenital Heart Defect before he was born. His official diagnosis is Double Inlet Left Ventricle so he only has half of a heart. He was born at Children’s Hospital Colorado and had his first surgery when he was just five days old. He had his second surgery when he was three months old and his third, most complicated surgery when he was two and half years old. He has also had four cardiac catheter procedures so far.
Jett is now three and a half years old and is growing and thriving! He is energetic, thoughtful, silly, fun, tender hearted, and friendly. He loves to laugh and make other people laugh. He just wants everyone to be happy all of the time! More than anything, he loves playing with his two sisters, Kylee and Piper. He is adventurous and soaks in every new experience he has with wonder and excitement! He has an immense love for life!
Jett has received all of his cardiac care at Children’s Hospital Colorado and has been cared for by Dr. Villavicencio since before he was even born. Jett and his family are beyond grateful for Dr. Villavicencio, Dr. Mitchell, and all of the Nursing Staff at Children’s Hospital for all that they have done to provide Jett with the best life he is able to be living! They are real life heroes and they have been the biggest blessing in Jett’s life!
