We are supporting the Courage Classic for children like Koby.
For the second year, we are part of the Wheels of Justice Team, raising funds to support the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) at Children's Hospital of Colorado.
Koby was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor, in March 2016. Our lives were turned upside down, but filled with meaning and grit over the next 23 months. Koby passed away Jan 19, 2018, just seven weeks after his bar mitzvah.
Our family attended the Courage Classic in 2016, and decided to ride together in 2017. It was a highlight for all of us. It was empowering and it was great to be part of such a positive community. Micah participated in the 24 mile family ride last year- and was a total rockstar.
This year- Hannah committed to riding too. Actually, we committed her, despite her better judgement. Hannah's still a bit ambivalent about the ride- but she is part of the team, and will fundraise and cheer us on, as well!
We won't have our champ, Koby, cheering us into the village, on his super-fly green adaptive bike- but he'll be with us every mile of the trip.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children.
We appreciate your support, in the many ways it comes. If there is any way you can contribute to this ride, and help support the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital of CO, we'd be most appreciative.
Salomon, Melanie, Hannah, and Micah-- and Koby, in all of the ways he is with us, too.
