Why I ride
Both of my wonderful boys have received phenomenal care at Children's Hospital for various reasons over the years. I know when we walk in Children's Hospital my boys will receive the BEST care possible, every time. I ride for my boys and for Team Summits For Samantha. Team Summits for Samantha is a group of talented people I work with. Our captain and co-worker, Heather Schichtel, founded the team. Last year we raised over $100,000! Samantha was four years old when her body succumbed to Mitochondrial Disease. Money we raise goes to Mitochondrial research.
I am also riding in the Courage Classic for kids like Noah. Noah was born with a congenital heart defect. Within his first few months of life, Noah’s treatment involved a hole being punctured in his heart and eventually open-heart surgery. Noah is now a healthy 13-year-old who rides in the Courage Classic thanks to the care he received at Children’s Colorado. His favorite day is not Christmas or even his birthday, but day 3 of the Courage Classic when he gets to hand out medals at the finish line.
Noah will not be the last child to face a life-threatening illness, and his family will not be the last to navigate a frightening diagnosis. The Courage Classic is both a personal challenge and an opportunity to support positive outcomes for kids and families who need Children's Colorado.
