Why I ride
This will be my 20th year riding the Courage Classic with the Gene Team. Our team has raised more than $1 million for Children's Colorado, helping to ensure that patients and their families receive amazing care.
Training for and riding the Courage Classic challenges me. The ride does not get easier as I get older. I continue to ride because I am inspired by the brave children who this ride benefits.
Seeing patients along the route and at the finish line reminds me why I ride: we ride for the kids. I am riding in the Courage Classic for kids like Noah. Noah was born with a congenital heart defect. Within his first few months of life, Noah’s treatment involved a hole being punctured in his heart and eventually open-heart surgery. Noah is now a healthy 16-year-old who rides in the Courage Classic thanks to the care he received at Children’s Colorado. His favorite day is not Christmas or even his birthday, but the last day of the Courage Classic when he gets to hand out medals at the finish line.
Noah will not be the last child to face a life-threatening illness, and his family will not be the last to navigate a frightening diagnosis. The Courage Classic is both a personal challenge and an opportunity to support positive outcomes for kids and families who need Children's Colorado.
My goal is to raise $1,500.00. Please consider supporting my ride.
