I am supporting the Courage Classic for my son, Ronan.
At 20 months, our son started telling us that his neck hurt. After a series of doctor's visits and tests, we went to Children's for an MRI, which showed a spinal cord tumor. We were instantly plunged into the world of pediatric cancer.
Ronan had neurosurgery at Children's Hospital. The surgery went extremely well and now 8 years later Ronan has experienced no progression or regrowth. He is a happy, healthy boy. He is doing amazingly well and we have Dr. Handler, Dr. Mulcahy-Levy and the entire team of doctors, nurses and practitioners that cared for Ronan at Children's to thanks for his amazing recovery.
Ronan will not be the last child to face a life-threatening illness, and we will not be the last family to navigate a frightening diagnosis.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children. I am proud to say that I am now a member of the Childen's team- as a nurse in the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit.
I ride for my son, my patients and to support the dedicated caregivers that have given so much to us.
Thanks for your support.
