I am supporting the Courage Classic for my son, Ronan.
At 20 months, our son started telling us that his neck hurt- day after day. After a series of doctor's visits and tests, we went to Children's for an MRI. The results were terrifying. Ronan was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor and we were instantly plunged into the world of pediatric cancer.
Ronan had neurosurgery at Children's Hospital. The surgery went extremely well and now five years later Ronan has experienced no progression or regrowth. He is a happy, healthy boy. He is doing amazingly well and we have Dr. Handler, Dr. Mulcahy-Levy and the entire team of doctors, nurses and practitioners that cared for Ronan at Children's to thanks for his amazing recovery.
Ronan will not be the last child to face a life-threatening illness, and we will not be the last family to navigate a frightening diagnosis.
The Courage Classic is not only a personal challenge, but also an opportunity to support positive outcomes and healthier futures for children.
I ride for my son and to support the dedicated caregivers that have given so much to us.
