Why I ride
Well, this is the 31st time I've participated in the CC and most of you have donated many times, some all 30 so far! I'm one of 18 "Founders" who have participated in all the CCs.
This year the tour is virtual due to Corona. The organization has suggested we define a riding goal for both the defined tour days. So, on the tour dates I'll be out riding alone probably in Custer County. Since I've only ridden once this year (a mere 20 miles), I'll try and ride 40 miles each day. Gonna be interesting!
In any case as the years go by I need to train harder but I'm still riding OK. I ride for many reasons, certainly for the kids who need our help. But I also ride for the joy of Colorado, being around all kinds of "can do" people and because I try and stay in shape.
That last reason is becoming more important to me as I grow older - will turn 74 this summer - since so many people my age are now using the medical system in a big way. It seems the better health we old folks maintain, the more resources will be available to the young who have most of their lives in front of them.
So, as usual, Doris and I have made the base pledge necessary to ride. Anything you donate are bonus bucks. By the way, over the 30 years the total donations made in my name are about $23k! Over such a long time I suppose that sum in todays dollars would be maybe $50k ?? And, if I could raise $2042 this year, I'd get a new merit badge: I'd be a diamond contributer. Yeah!
Anyway, thanks a bunch.
