I ride in honor of my son Mason who in January 2017 was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer and underwent a radical nephrectomy. Our family spent a significant portion of the year in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (“CCBD”) where Mason received weekly chemotherapy treatments. As of this past December, Mason’s scans have returned favorable results and he is currently in remission!
From the onset of Mason’s diagnosis, we have had nothing but one positive experience after another at the hospital. I have always heard from those in treatment how great the staff can be and today I can tell you first hand that they are nothing less than amazing. From our surgery team (led by Dr. Nicholas Cost), to the oncologists (led by Dr. Carrye Cost), the nurses, social workers, support staff and countless others, we cannot be grateful enough for the treatment and support.
Due to its size and fundraising successes, Wheels of Justice (WOJ) directs that every penny raised is to support the patients, families, and amazing health care providers that walk the halls of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. From grants for directed research that have improved the standard of care for pediatric oncologic care to a best in nation wellness program, WOJ is directly responsible for funding many vital functions at CCBD. I am honored to ride with Wheels and proud of the more than $4 million raised to date.
Thank you for support,
Michael, Julie, Abigail, Isabelle, & Mason (a.k.a. the honey badger)
